It was a gamble by John Wayne and company to make a patriotic film at a time when patriotism was at a low point, but that's exactly what they did. I am grateful that they did. The Green Berets are more than just Special Forces, they are multi lingual and multi talented. John F. Kennnedy created this outfit, and as such, he's their "patron saint". Since John Wayne is considered to be the patron saint of the Marine Corps, it's only fitting that a larger than life figure would play larger than life soldiers. Also, the movie utilized the song "Balllad of the Green Berets", sung by Barrry Adler. This song makesbpatriots tear up and get a lump in their throat. For those interested in a somewhat sanitized, but interesting glimpse of history, this movie is well worth your time. The movie also shows "skylift", a rarely used means of evacuating certain personnnel. I give the movie four stars out of five, and for the patriots, get some tisssue paper for that item in your eye at the end of the movie.
