Erickson's P-38 looks to be touring the Midwest this summer. I wonder if it will appear at Oshkosh given it is due to be at Thunder over Michigan the weekend prior.

We're going.

The RCAF 100th theme at OSH is not a thing we want to miss.

Question for the hive: a friend remembers one year that a Swordfish came to Oshkosh. Anyone remember the year?

Awesome to hear, Dave. What's the plan? Hopefully we get to see the Hurricane at Oshkosh. Big hopes for the RCAF 100th!

OK - those of you on Warbirds of America’s email list got the Swordfish note recently. They’d like to know who brought the example in 2011. Does anyone know? Anyone? Kalamazookid?

They won't be flying their acrobatic routine, just flat flybys. From the press release, "Its aerial demonstrations at AirVenture will be a modified display featuring tight fly-by formations and colorful smoke trails in the team’s Aermacchi MB-339PAN trainer jets."

The only flying Swordfish and (AFAIK) the only operating Bristol Pegasus engine in North America were owned by Mike Potter and operated by Vintage Wings of Canada in 2010-12, including that trip to OSH.

Unfortunately they discovered that the incredibly expensive and incredibly delayed engine overhaul in the UK, by Deltair, turned out to be an incompetent farce, and rather than go through that all over again, the aircraft was sold.
