Looks like it is repairable ;-)

Here is 'darn Yankee' back in the old days, still as N11T:
Through some inborn censorship the correct name of the Mustang is altered. As you can see it is called "D ---A---M---N Yankee"

Why is this Mustang described as *notorious*?

Suspect it's the English translation from Dutch - probably should read "well known" or some such. Mind you, perhaps it is notorious...

You are right: 'Notorious' has a different meaning ....
I have changed it in my post...
Its a disadvantage when you are not a native speaker

Sorry to hear of this... Tom Karst has flown his Mustang for almost 30 years without any major issues. I suspect it will be repaired and returned to service as soon as possible!

Did "D-A-M-N" really get censored twice?

Gert

There is no native language when it comes to airplanes! I keep threatening to disable autocorrect on my phone because it messes up all the aviation terms it doesn't understand. And language is hard. Even the English dialects have problems with interpretation.

I remember this plane from when it was in Rialto, CA. I think it was part of a trade that resulted in a P-47D from Dave Tallichet going to Bill Klaers/Alan Wocjiak, which they still own and fly in Colorado.

Very practical and sensible way to raise and transport it -- farm machinery and hay bales.

Well, it's a bummer, but should hopefully be a straightforward repair... looks like the pilot killed the motor before touchdown, so hopefully a full teardown won't be required due to shock loading. Looks like a best case scenario for pilot and pax, given the gear issues.

Probably won't be cheap to get a new prop, rebuild the doghouse and fix the hydraulics, though. :-/

@aerovet, your English is aeons better than my Dutch, Gerd! :D

Sad accident, but hopefully she'll be back in the soon - ifvit has to happen then better in the Autumn than in the Spring methinks.

If my memory is correct, she turned up in The Netherlands in 1994. First photo I have of this airframe is from September 1994:

Yup, its a profanity filter that automatically replaces certain words words, its a holdover from a series of incidents that happened 20 years ago.
