I just clicked the link and it took me right there. I'm south of the (Canadian) border though. I don't think I had been to the AAFO site in years. Maybe a "cookie" problem?

You should visit more often. I'm trying to get more people involved with the site. It was amazing 20 years ago, it could be again with some more involvement from the people who visit. There is still tons of history on the site, and there is always room for more to be added.

Eventually they were able to fence off and patrol the area and make things better, but for a while it was the wild west out there at the back of the race course.

Looks like a great spot for viewing, no one goes to an air show or air race anticipating something may crash on them, and if they did anticipate that they might as well stay home. I've been at the end of runways 100's of times, so far so good ... Though I do like to stay slightly off to the side, not so much for safety but a better view. Worse crash at Reno of course was in safe designated seating while the lookieloos were perfectly safe, so you never know.

AAFO has been around for almost 25 years. Like WIX it is most active as a message board oriented site. That's why Noah found the misleading old main page content, and missed the message board.

The site is struggling right now, due to lack of participation and seemingly of interest. It ia a real shame, as AAFO has been such an important site to those of us with an interest in the subset of Warbirds that is Racing. There is an enormous body of Racing history and discussion of Racing technology in the hundreds of pages of message board archives. Lots of pretty Warbird pictures, too. I sure hope the site can find a way to continue -- the webmaster is pretty ill and has not been able to do much for a while, but there is new blood taking over (I hope).

Please visit the site and help us keep it going...

Yes, AAFO is down. I spoke with Wayne a minute ago and apparently he's been on the phone with tech support... It would appear that someone in accounting made a mistake. Hopefully it will be back up sooner than later.

Yes it's been down all of April , it's a bunch of server switchover issues , should be just a few more days. Wayne has been posting daily about it . Here's the latest as of 2 days ago :

" New Server Observation/Review

Other than being too darn new causing database issues, (we're told, completely fixable *fingers crossed*)

I decided to tour around some of the old pages that were not working on the old box, photo features with click to view links, from what I can see, they now work and rather well! Old server was spinny disk clickity clickity S-L-O-W new box is SSD's, also, new box has AMD processor, which I've never used but seems to process image files REALLY FAST!

New server on east coast and still very fast response.. can't wait till techs get the board up and running again!" - Wayne

AAFO is back up. We had server issues, and a serious old forum incompatibility issue. We are now updated with the forum (went from version 3.8 to 5.7.4...) and its back up and running. There are some random issues that we are working out (missing directories mostly.) but aside from the minor issues, its good to go and seems to be working well.
