Don't get too excited there are a few wrecks but not up to much apart for a few well hidden good ones. The wrecks are rapidly being cut up for scrap or just disolving away all the time Image
The bit of P38 in this picture is from an aircraft that was in great condition but was systematically cut into little bits and sent to a scrap dealer in Brisbane and rescued by queensland Air Museum here. This DOES happen all the time and most wrecks are destroyed thiis way rather than salvaged.

Regards
John P

Happens with webshots sourced pics sometimes - try right clicking your mouse and when the menu comes up try "show picture" option.

If that doesn't work go to my webshots account and look for the Queenslan air museum pics folder it's in there.

Just busting your chops John! I'm no P-38 expert but I figured you meant the wing.

Is there a known s/n associated to the panel?

Regards,

t~

the scrapping will get progressively worse too....... have you seen the scrap prices for aluminum, steel, & stainless steel??? it's sky high!! here along the midwestern u.s. entire school bleachers are being stolen, construction sites looted, etc, to take the metals to unscrupulous dealers. it's near epidemic here, i can't even imagine how bad it is elsewhere world wide. what's sadder is when history is melted away all for the mighty $$$$ i give any warbird salvor a hearty thanks for having the foresight to preserve wrecks, with all their own time, money, & effort expended. a very unselfish deed that should be saluted by all with our passion!!

We are cool I took it that way as well- No Serial No known but there was a whole container of scrapped bits of aircraft - very sad and happens all the time here as Brisbane is the destination for a lot of this scrap. nothing useable - all cut too smalll and through castings etc
