I looked at the Snowbirds schedule for 2022.
They are booked at Geneseo June 4 and 5.
They'll base out of Rochester.

The big bummer here is the show will be the same weekend as MAAM's WWII Weekend. Kind of stinks for the Northeast airshow crowd.

Is Rochester confirmed as base for the weekend?

Thanks

I figured that the dates would step on something.
Kind of a drag.
As far as basing out of Rochester, I heard it mentioned, but by no means am an authority.
It does make sense, as many high performance acts have based there for D52 performances.

I almost wonder if they would base out of Hamilton, St Catherines or even CFB Trenton to avoid the whole sugar show that is Covid, PCR testing and such. Their appearance in the USA is non essential.

As I say, just wondering.

Definitely worth wondering about.
If 2021 has taught us anything, it's that Covid had it's own agenda and is still renting our best laid plans asunder.
Any of those suggested bases would work well.
Really good thought.

The Snowbirds won't be able to operate out of St Catharines/Niagara District Airport as the runways are too short for their current SOP's following the Kamloops crash in 2020.
Not exactly sure on the new minimum length, but I believe it's 6,000 or 7,000 feet. They can no longer operate out of traditional air show venues such as Brantford and Gatineau.
One of the reasons given is that the current Snowbird pilots have usually never flown a Tutor before joining 431 Sqn, as the CT-114 was retired from the CAF advanced trainer role around 2000.

We'll have to figure out how it'll work for us in the CHAA Harvards as well. Last year was a bit of a challenge as the guys who flew down had to get Covid tests at some point during the weekend in order to fly home. At least the corn will be shorter in June ;-)

Yes, we flew her home at the end of November with a wing from another Harvard. She should be flying again with her original wing in the spring.
