From Scramble......

Imagine crossing this on the highway at night.....!!!! pop1

Never knew what had happened to the other Connie part plane in Maine used for the restoration of the Lufthansa one.

Man I am so sad this project never got to fly out of NA on its wings. But the part bird will go on to live..... :drink3:

Still....nice journey for the part bird. Independently of the story of the main one.

Anyone seen it????? Cheers.

Starliner (Connie) on the move!
Lockheed Starliner N8083H (L-1649A with msn 1038) was sold to Lufthansa Berlin-Stiftung at an auction on 18 December 2007. It was put in storage at Auburn-Lewiston Airport (ME), partially stripped of parts and used for the restoration of N7316C (L-1649A msn 1018, also acquired during that same auction).
The plan was for the Starliner (a Constellation variant) to be restored and painted in 1950's TWA colours for use as a cocktail lounge, adjacent to the old TWA terminal at JFK Airport. Restoration began early June 2018 and was completed mid-September last year. The painstaking work — which included tracking down authentic parts, installing flooring and windows, and outfitting the cockpit with controls — was completed at Maine’s Auburn-Lewiston Airport. After restoration the aircraft was disassembled and transported to JFK Airport in October 2018, which is when this YouTube movie was made.
It is now still stored at JFK, awaiting completion of its parking pad adjacent to the hotel, which is scheduled to open on 15 May 2019.

Edit......Why do I consider a Connie as cool and as much likeable as a warbird????? What a cool epic bird........

New to me too - I had no idea there was a Starliner back at JFK.

Yes, I went to see it last year. It is very nicely displayed on a ramp-like pad outside the renovated Saarinen TWA terminal, which now serves as a hotel lobby. They have it set up with vintage luggage carts and suitcases, and the hotel has also been done in a retro 1960s style, from the restored arrival/departure board to the paper napkins and drink coasters at the bar, which advertise the TWA Connie. Worth a visit if going through JFK. Easiest access is from JetBlue T5 which now surrounds the old complex.

Wasn't the Connie damaged during a storm in the last year? I seem to remember seeing a news article with pictures of damage to the tail.

Unintentional double post. I SWEAR I didn't do anything to make it happen!
