Messerschmitt Me.109-E - Seen On Road, Suffolk, UK (WN ?)

Some of the guys I mix with (British & American) on a model a/c forum are discussing this

One of the lads by chance, saw THIS Me.109-E being trailed about, in the U.K, April 2021 (2 days ago)

Seen on a turn-off by the A.12 in Suffolk, it appears to be headed for Bentwaters/Woodbridge**

**(previously an old 'Cold War' USAF base)

Anyone know it's identity / werk-nummer / serial ?

Come to that, does anyone know who the group / owner is ?

Flyer or just static ?

Sorry to be so inquisitive, but one of the lads thought it might be fibreglass

(but I very much doubt it !)

If the spinner is in situ but no blades, it's going to be a fair bet that the propeller (at least) isn't a genuine item. But those replicas are pretty darn good!

Oh look....one of my photos!

Yes, it is a fibreglass replica. I was involved with the project from the start, all produced by using original drawings, a lot of research and help from some wonderful people along the way. When it was rolled people, visitors at an adjoining Museum thought that it had flown in, such was the detail. Only by giving it a tap, did they find out that it was a fibreglass replica. Only original part was the tailwheel!!!

Replica was built by GateGuardsUK, who are now trading as Replica Aircraft Fabrications Ltd. Website is still active, but unsure of contact details. If they dont exist, can easily pop over, as now work at the Aircraft Museum next door.

Cheers,

Martin
