I acquired a large box of B17 parts and have been slowly going through the parts manual identifying them.

These are the easy ones.

Inner nacelle bracket mount

Oil Surge valve

Wing Vacuum Valve

Aileron section

Fuel tank strap

Bendix/Eclipse Retractor

Barber Collman Controller

Some of the more "interesting" parts include

A relic Jeep panel lights switch.
An unmarked lobe pump and these parts:

Large 17 inch x 14 inch red aluminium panel with stencil 12 on front - green paint residues to rear and no part numbers.

A Douglas stamped light assembly with part number 767-400

A l0 inch x 14 inch perspex panel ( in two parts) with three sides intact

A black painted steel engine cylinder with height of 8.75 inches and bore of 4.63 inches.

Any suggestions on these would be appreciated

Plus this section of a steering wheel or yoke - original diameter would be somewhere between 15 and 16 inches.

The engine cylinder sure looks like it came from a Gipsy Major.

Andy I was sure it was not Wright Cyclone.. But no markings on it.

To confirm bore is correct for a Gipsy Major and looks perfect match

Remember the vets, the wonderful planes they flew and their sacrifices for a future many of them did not live to see.

Both ! I have bought many aviation items over the last 20 years and have kept many but have resold others.

I like making items, restoring items and identifying items. Some that are more difficult to identify I look for assistance with on forums.

For example I bought an unknown panel from ARCO at Duxford - identified it as Blenheim V Navigators hatch. Restored it with new wooden sections and new perspex and made it into a bookcase that sits in my study.

These B17 parts were in a box that I acquired for a specific panel - The others I pass to restorers if they are needed and sell others. Parts that I have found that are flying again are in B25, C47 and B17's etc.
