Oof. Even worse on this side :( Glad to see everyone came out in one piece:

Hopefully the owner can source another fuselage, if he decides to restore it. The Registry lists 44-28938/N7946C as having had an 18,000 hour restoration the last time.

Such a shame :(

I presume, they were starting their journey back east, after getting back from Hawaii.

Very sad sight, best wishes to the two who've reportedly been injured. Very reminiscent of the fate of the French B25 a few years back.

I hope this is not indicative that the crew suffered serious medical problems:

I hope all involved can recover quickly and without permanent injury.

Two things I'm hearing;

- Taigh Ramey was on board

- Crash is a total loss

Always a bummer to see but thank goodness everyone survived. All the best to those on board.

The important parts are still (mostly) intact: the guys inside. With enough cash, everything can be rebuilt. But with the gear and engines ripped off as well as the fuselage crumpled, who is going to rebuild a B-25 from this state?

Numerous social media sites, including one of a person who was involved in this accident, verified that Taigh was one of the pilots on board. So sad to hear, and I wish Taigh a speedy recovery - both mentally and physically.

I would agree that the crash is a total loss. Look at that crumpled, twisted fuselage. It is shot and unusable. I would guess that this would be a "parts only" airplane. The cost to rebuild that would be many times over the value of the aircraft. The same thing happened to the French B-25 that put down in a field a few years ago while on fire. The cost to restore far outweighed the current value. That is the reason that the French owner decided to put that wreckage in storage for many years until the value catches up with the cost of restoration. I think the same could happen here.

Looks like it will become a parts plane, which isn't the worst thing possible.
Looks like the gear was down ?
Strange you don't see more marks in the dirt...

I would love to see a larger overhead view. The reports I've seen mention a drainage ditch, which would certainly do that kind of damage to the gear/airframe. But without a picture, who knows.

Juan Browne (Blancolirio) has posted a video of what is known so far -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WLvFxM ... WL&index=2

Includes a picture of the irrigation ditch they hit. He said the gear appears up, but the picture seems to show pretty big impacts that would about line up with the MLG tires.

Sounds like they ran it out of fuel. A true shame because they were on the ground in Vacaville just 20 minutes prior.
