Ladies and Gents

Seeing over the recent months, my P-40 research has slowed down, I had a little time on my hands and I was asked if I could work out what aircraft type a certain V-1710 might have been fitted to (to see if a serial might be found for the aircraft). "How hard could this be" I thought to myself, well as it turns out alot harder than it seems. However I've been making some significant headway with information in particular to the serial number/FY and Type matches..........

I have the book "Vee's for Victory" which doesn't help to much as there seems to be very little data in there, however I've managed to match over 2900 of the Commercial engines serials to their Air Ministry No. and type. and over 7,000 Serials to FY serials (overall I have 13,000 engine serials to type worked out if you include the large number that didn't have FY numbers). I still have around 600 engines from US records, and around 2 years of Form 1180's for the RAF to add (however these are mostly -71/-81/-99 engines), as well as 2500 engines that I only have the FY Serial for.

Now my road block and my request for Information. Does anyone on the board have access to either engine/s, or Engine plates that they would be willing to share the information (or a photo) on the top line of the Allison plate (Air Corp or Bureau Model/Air Corp or Bureau No. and MFGS. No.). Very interested in the C models (most of what I've found are Commercial Engines for this model), and the earlier F's but I'm happy with anything that may allow me to extrapolate more serials by using a continuous run method. - If needed to keep the information private, I'll happily take a PM with the numbers if that helps (numbers go no further than the list and not identified where the number came from (at present I just annotate from Allison Plate, from MACR, from AM Form etc).

Thanks for any help anyone can give, stay safe and healthy out there

Buz
