I'm usually there Monday-Wednesday. While I think I see more on the ground, I do tend to miss the better airshows as the week goes on.

When you go really depends on what you want to see. If you'd rather see as many aircraft as possible, earlier in the week is your best bet. If you'd rather see the larger airshows, later in the week is a better bet. There aren't typically a lot of aircraft left by Sunday from what I understand.

Of note, the major warbird displays commemorating the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII are set for Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Hope it works out for you and your Dad to go. My Dad and I have gone together five of the six years I've gone and it's a great experience to be able to share.

Wednesday has been the day to go - assuming the weather is good - if you only have one day.

You typically see all the stuff that flies in to be judged and you get a decent airshow. Stuff seems to start leaving Thursday and by the weekend it is borderline ghost town.

Warbird Weekend in Janesville lists B-29 "Doc" as well as Dixie Wing's SBD, FG-1D, & P-51.

Historically, most attendees have continued north on Sunday.

B-25 "Devil Dog"
B-25 "Panchito"
C-47 "Placid Lassie"

And one of the cooler rides into KOSH are the day trips offered by Yankee Air Museum aboard C-47 "Hairless Joe"
