Made a trip today to Ontario, OR to check on info provided by a co-worker re: warbirds at the airport.

Just before Ontario, and still in Idaho, on I-84 exit 3, there is a guy who has a military surplus vehicle business, and has a Bell OH-58 Kiowa mounted atop a flatbed trailer.

Bell OH-58 7?-15462

Assorted military vehicles (Trucks, refuellers, an M-113 APC, several tracked vehicles for snow operations.)

Upon arrival at the Ontario airport, a pleasant surprise awaited:

Navion N4484K U.S. Army 81484

Lockheed T-33 9462 USAF markings

Lockheed T-33 Fuselage, no wings, no s/n visible

Lockheed T-33 Overall white, inside hangar, no serial visible

DeHavilland DH112 WZ944 N7022H

MiG-15 (Polish LIM something) in light blue and desert sand cammo, no serial visible

GD F-111 no markings

Remains of F-86 Sabre No serial visible

F-86 53-841 / FU841

F4D Skyray?? NASA 708

MiG-21 (Polish LIM something) Red 6611

McDD F-4 Phantom 66-266

LTV A-7D 70-0964

There were also several T-33 wing tip fuel tanks and also several for F-86s, as well as canopies for both aircraft models.

Went also to McCall ID, to the Smoke Jumpers base, but it was completely snowed over.

That was all, folks!

I believe that's the follow-on to the Skyray called the Lancer (?).

Jack:

Thank you!!

Now that you mention the name Lancer, it comes back to mind; this seems to be longer and slimmer than the Skyray, doesn't it?

This is where Fred Ihlenberg killed himself while showing off in his Vampire a few years ago.

The airplane is a F5D-1 Lancer, one of four built.

I went back to Ontario today, and managed to have a nice conversation with one of the guys who are working to restore some of the aircraft that I saw a couple of weeks ago.

I was told that the owner of the whole shebang, owns approximately 17 jets, all of them stored in the same airport; he owns and flies a T-28A.

Re: the MiG-15 that I reported: I managed to go in the hangar and see that it actually is a MiG-17 and it has Yugoslavian AF emblem, but no serial visible.

In addition to the aircraft reported above, the following should be of interest:

There is an additional hangar -which I was able to visit today- in which there are three jet aircraft:

An anonymous T-33, that reportedly only needs a good engine to be able to fly again.

An F-86 (51-2826), one of the prototypes for the 20mm cannon installation, and then sent to Korea during the Korean Police Action, showing six kill marks - I was told original paint from the 1950s- that is being restored for static display.

McDD A-4C Skyhawk (Bu 150581) re-painted to represent Blue Angel #1. It is being restored for static display, although it will have an engine and will be capable of taxiing but no take-off, since the runway is too short.

This is one of 11 A-4s that the owner (whose name I am not cleared to publish yet) bought in Arizona, former Singapore AF, that were never delivered but had been stored for many years.

Lastly, the F-111 reported above, was never a military example, but a General Dynamics test airframe.

Eventually, when they have all the permits, planning completed, etc., they will open a museum there.

Saludos,

Tulio

Tulio,

62-4344 Republic F-105D cockpit Jun99-Jul04
133351 Grumman S-2A N8110Q Jun99
136719 Grumman S-2A N8115M Jun99-Sep04
(52-9803) Lockheed T-33A spares use, shed Jun99
(MM53-5587) 9-32 Lockheed RT-33A ex AMI, dismantled Jun99
(53-6117) Lockheed T-33A c/n 9738, fuselage Jun99

A79-618 DH Vampire T.35 ex RAAF,N11924 Jun99-Sep04

I'd be grateful if anyone can add anything to the list, even if only to remove aircraft if they have gone elsewhere.
Regards
Andy Marden
