Just found this photo supposedly shot at Fox Field in 1966 showing several DC-6s and Constellations in storage. This was very likely California Airmotive's yard. Next to them are a trio of P-38s, and I am kinda wondering which ones they were. Hycon's birds had been sold off long before 1966, and as far as I know they were stored in Las Vegas. Mark Hurd's birds seems to have operated out of Santa Barbara, but one of the planes in the photo looks like it has the extended photo nose and another the blunt one.

Anyone with an idea?

Definitely not Fox Field. Fox Field to this day has the same terminal it had back in 1966. Your picture looks like Vegas to me.

Thanks for the info. It is not the first time I've caught Zoggavia photos with incorrect descriptions. I did bring out Peter Marson's Constellation "bible", and according to it some of TCA's Constellations were stored there from Feb. 62 and flown to Fox Field in mid 63. That gives us a timeframe coupled with the fact that some of Hycon's P-38s were on consignment by Alamo Airways in Las Vegas between 1959-62. I will venture a guess (and that's just what it is), that the Lightning furthest away of the pair sitting next to each other (Pinocchio) is N91300. It went to Don May of Phoenix in June 62 and crashed fatally on Oct. 24, 1962. Its sidekick (blunt nose) is N5596V which was also sold to Don May. After going through a number of owners, it is now at Chino with Allied Fighters. The one on its own looks to have the blue/ white Hycon colors. That would make it N9957F which was also sold to Don May before going to Tallmantz/ Movieland of the Air, and is now on a toothpick at McGuire AFB in NJ. Info from Goodall's directory.
