The Flying Dutchman Foundation (see http://www.flyingdutchmanfoundation.nl/en/) is working on getting the ex-PH-DDS back in the air and to The Netherlands. It is currently in South Africa after moving there in 2000 but the aircraft hasn't flown for several years.

That would be awesome to see that back in the air again. The ex Ansett one in South Africa has it's engines run and I believe that it is near airworthy.

Maybe not a DC4, but Everts still flys DC-6s and C46s. So some old recip prop planes still work.

I'm quite surprised there wasn't sufficient knowledge on this site to answer a fairly basic question on airworthy survivors.

Does anybody have a different forum they might recommend for prop liners?

Thanks,

Mick

This is my count of currently active and recently active (could be flown when desired), DC-4/C-54 aircraft:

- N500EJ (Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation)
- N96358 (Alaska Air Fuel)
- N3054V (Alaska Air Fuel)
- N460WA (Florida Air Transport)
- ZS-BMH (South African Airways Historic Flight)
- ZS-AUB (South African Airways Historic Flight)

Ones that I know used to be operational in modern years, but haven't been flown in a while, include:

- C-GCTF (Buffalo Airways - for sale)
- C-FIQM (Buffalo Airways - for sale)
- C-GBNV (Buffalo Airways - for sale)
- N67024 (Environmental Aviation Services - registration expired)
- N438NA (Brooks Air Fuel - registration canceled)
- N51802 (Brooks Air Fuel - registration canceled)
- ZS-PAI (Phoebus Apollo Aviation - looking faded and tattered)

I haven't seen/heard anything on N55CW lately, which is based in Florida at Key Stone Heights.
