Over a year ago, one of the producers of the show asked me for some information and advice related to the production of this program. I hopes ee the fruits of that on November 7th!

Glad you enjoyed it. Hope that lots of folks got to see it. It was fantastic that lots of folks got to see some really high quality underwater footage of the airplane in its current state, and see how it looks on the bottom. They didn't make it very clear sometimes, but they occasionally showed some of the rear half of the airplane while focusing mostly on the cockpit area as that was where the remains were found. It was also interesting to see how TV portrays things that you are familiar with in real life. For instance, when we initially presented this to DPAA and had a DPAA with us on site a few years back, we reviewed photos and hours of video and made clear that the most likely location for remains would be underneath the parachute, as that parachute was literally right underneath the upside down pilot's seat. Lo and behold, that's where they found Lt. Ford. But on the documentary, they did a larger grid in front of the cockpit area and searched with no results other than the wedding ring. If they had gone right to where we told them to, they would have found Ford faster and then spent other dive time looking for the other two guys. Oh well. We are still hopeful that the other two lost airmen, Russell Landry and Charles Priest, will be found. Lt. Ford will be buried next month in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors, and will rest with his son, who was also a combat vet.

I thought the Wedding ring find was the needle in the haystack. Too bad they didn't find the other two crew as pointed out in an earlier post. Both planes looked pretty well preserved considering 70 years in saltwater at relatively shallow depth. Good program.
