The aircraft was built in Chicago, the factory at the time was where the present OHare International Airport is. Her US Air force number was 44-9126 and accepted by the US ARMY on May 15th 1945. She was transferred to the new USAF on Sept 19th 1947.
During the early fifties she was assigned to a two star (Major General) later only 3 and 4 star Generals rated 4 engine planes, 1 and 2 stars got you a twin engine.
The aircraft was actioned at Davis Monthan AFB on November 6 1975, it was then registed N9013V by Transglobal, then with Flying Fish of Indiana in Jan 19 1980
There is a gap in her history, with stories of drug running up from South America and being impounded by FBI etc etc but in 1995 it was purchased in Montana and flown to Brisbane via Los Angeles,Honolulu, Marjuro, Honiara
It was the 298th C-54 built.
