I've been told that according to Air Force Instruction, No aircraft parts can be sold. They must go through the DRMO process and be demilled/destroyed/scrapped.

There are several Facebook pages dedicated to cockpits, antique aircraft, and warbird parts. check them out.

Yep, DiD is very (too) strict.

However, if you're a budding Peck or Pemberton (two well known vintage aircraft restorers), you might try various museums that specialize in those types. They are frequently willed or donated projects that they don't have the time to restore or funds to do so.

Yes, most are civil types, but there could be some low-end warbirds...L-birds, Bamboo bombers and the like.

I know a museum that has a Piper TG in storage, I'm sure other museums have stuff they'd like to see restored while bringing in $$$. A "win-win".

The New England Air Museum has a sale page for items they no longer have a need for. It's at the bottom of heir main page: "Surplus Artifacts" Usually only active when they have stuff to sell.

VFM has a Culver Cadet for sale. It needs annual and some other work, but it flew in to the Museum a few years back. Wouldn't be a difficult restoration. If anyone's seriously interested, ping me and I'll hook you up with the right person to discuss it.

There is a lot out there....I don't know what your budget is, but Museums should be viewed as a "seller" that needs to make top dollar for donated artifacts they de access in order to prosper. If you want to negotiate a deal, try ebay. Here is a sampling of neat stuff.

Ebay is most always way over priced, too many gold plated items, well at least the owners think so. Museums that are close to scrapping things would be a better bet I would think.
