Airship Warbirds - of the 1930's...

Are the US Navy's floating aircraft carriers of the 1930's "Warbirds"???

Last Monday at the Smithsonian Udvar-Hazy Center was the USS Akron's (ZRS-4) F9C Sparrowhawk:

Why do you think they choose this insignia?

BTW: If you haven't made a visit to the Udvar-Hazy Center you're really missing out!!! :D :D :D

Thanks for the photos, I have some of my own from last fall.
Curtiss only built a total of 8 Sparrow-hawks.

Thanks! I'd have the airframe hanging from an Akron trapeze above the main floor...
A maintenance guy took the insignia pic for me. It is truly amazing what's in that museum.

Here's one of my own from last Sept. I wish I could get out there a little more often.
The Curtiss Hawks are some of my favorite planes.
