F4U-5N over Korea 123176 (VMF-513). Most likely flown by CAPT Donald Walker Dorn at the time of this photo. 123176 went missing after mission completion over North Korea Oct 29, 1951.

"Captain Dorn was the pilot of an F4U-5N Corsair night fighter with the Marine Night Fighter Squadron 513, Marine Air Group 12, 1st Marine Air Wing. On October 29, 1951, while on a combat mission of strafing enemy positions, his aircraft's engine developed trouble then exploded."

Rest in Peace Capt Dorn

Indeed he was sitting quite high. This pilot below seems high in the saddle as well.

How much seat height adjustment was there in the F4U? Tho there was pedal adjustment, I gather it was rather strange to be flying from almost a standing position at higher settings.
