Me too, first time I got to see BR601 fly,, the Acemaker was impressive to watch too, not normally into jets. I watched it next day on radar,, thing is pretty quick, was turning over 530 knots.

The Collings Foundation keeps BR601 at the Worcester Airport in Worcester, MA. The Wings of Freedom tour comes to that airport in September and they pull out all their other gems that live their. Usually the skyraider, A36, spitfire, corsair and I believe this year the P38 will be there too.

Hoping they open a museum there or something so the aircraft are available to the public all year long.

Dont quote me on this but I believe the only flying examples that are kept in stowe are the Stearman, a T6 and the Storch. The Worcester stop is usually in September and it is always excellent, lots to see.

Last year I flew in their B24 which was absolutely incredible. It was the first warbird flight I've gone on - I'd always planned to fly on the B17 but over the last couple years I have got to know a local veteran that was in the 458th bomb group. The 458th flew B24's so I've grown to appreciate the 24 and decided that would be my first flight. My friend was a tail gunner and his crew was shot down at the end of June 44. It was humbling to climb into the tail turret of the B24 where he would have sat. I tried to imagine what it would have been like to be a 20 year old flying over a strange land far from home and then having to jump out into the unknown like he did.

Collings has so many airworthy warbirds in New England somewhere. F4U-5, P-40B, A-36, TBM -- you're saying they base them all at Worcester? I had the impression some were at Stow.
