Forgotten Jets

I've broken the B-47 section up by model/serial number range which should allow faster loading. I've also started adding service images to the list.

Thanks Chris!
I've been slowly pulling the B-47 pics from the archive of the FJ B-47 page.... there are a LOT of them :)

I see this alot, and while I have an idea what bailed to means, what is the actual definition of this phrase?

Glad to be of help! Will add as/when I can.

In terms of 'bailed' the correct term is in fact 'bailment', which basically means a loan, rather than a change of ownership. Thus anything bailed to the manufacturer would remain USAF/Navy/Army/Marines property throughout until either written off/scrapped/returned/transferred etc.

The USAF record cards refer to such periods with two-letter codes such as 'BT' (bailment test), etc...

On the F-8 Crusader page, I have a *tiny* update to suggest (in bold):

F8U-2 (F-8C) 147027
*1963: VMF-333 as DN-6.
*1967: VF-24 as NP-452.
*3/15/1967: Crashed into the sea near Hon Me Island/Thanh Hoa, North Vietnam due to pilot error (target fixation?). Pilot was killed.

I'm currently working on this specific a/c and have a photo of it showing the number 6, although I'm not at liberty to share it here.

Scott WRG Editor - Thanks Gaëtan, I have added the information to the entry.

Also, some of my illustrations/profiles are used on several of the pages:

* Saab J-29 Tunnan
* Dassault MD-450 Ouragan
* Dassault Mystere series

Let me know if you want bigger or better versions of these illustrations. Also, please feel free to use the attached profiles for the corresponding types (P-80, Magister, Mirage III, F-84, F-86) if you want to.

The lastest, and probably largest addition to the Forgotten Props groups yet, the Vought F4U Corsair.
