The P-40 is a current warbird, the 109 and Spit are models.

On the P-40, you can see the civi registration number, and the markings on the runway are modern.

Nice way to insert a few modern warbirds among the old. Those moderns are always to clean!

I agree with Steve Dickey and Scooby: Spitfire and Me.109; everything else seems to have details on the craft or in the background that I do not think could be modeled at a small scale. Though I have to say that the multiple shadows on the P-63 are suspect.

I assume that we can assume that there to no photoshopping of a model onto another image that provides period background?

Models? I think you may be right: I'd assumed that all photos were of genuine aircraft but four (by my reckoning) were modern warbirds, rather than period (the F-86 (Canadair Sabre 1) is 'period' by the way). However now I look again I agree that the Spitfire (MH434) and 109 photos do look more like models.

The full-size 109 is now in the RAF Museum while the 1:1 Spit is still a regular flier.
