Anyone who happens to have a photo of 42-27609 while it was in combat service, please contact me. We don't yet have an image of it in squadron colors, just many images of it as a wreck long after it was abandoned and shoved aside.
It was a natural metal finish P-47D-23RA, 5th AF, likely 35th Fighter Group, but could be 348th. The research to solve that has been ongoing for 3 years.
