Yah I know, some of you guys frown at the cryptic thread titles, but ..... it's the holidays and I'm right in the middle of the 5th (so far) largest fire in California history. I've been spending a lot of time in my office with the air purifier running non-stop. The air is horrible outside. I can tell you this ..... The firefighters (over 7,000 of them) are SUPERHERO'S!!!! Great bunch or guys and gals that I have breakfast with from time to time. Unreal how good they are.

Now for more airplane stuff for ya's ...

YF-93A was a highly modified F-86. At one point it was called the F-86C

Wow great thread! Especially the Pirate and Reporter- never saw a Reporter with ordinance like that. Wish a Reporter survived- think the last one over ran the runway and cracked up in a ditch while fighting fires.

Sometimes a photo just grabs you - as did the F-84 in front of the NACA hangar. Thanks for sharing, made my day.

What a tragic mess. A firefighter was lost as well. Very sad. I'm on the edge of voluntary & mandatory evacuation :(
Anyone with ideas of visiting Santa Barbara anytime soon may want to wait for a while until things work themselves out again, which they will.
252,500 acres burned so far. Firefighters are doing an amazing job.
