As in aircraft flying near or over Mt. Fuji.

They look very similar to these my dad snapped at Itami in '48; they were mostly F-6s from the 25th TRS:

The VB-17G 44-83675 was lost in Japan 27 September 1950 in an accident. She crashed 9 miles south of Haneda with 11 aboard. One person was killed in the crash.

The Mustang shot is interesting, as few very old warhorse Mustangs from the early days survived past 1947! P-51D-5NA 44-13539 was a veteran of the mighty 8th flying in the 359th FG and the 368th FS as CV-O and named “Mona” for a time. Few of the dash fives even survived the war, and again with the post 1947 date of the photo she is a real neat sight. Her fate is unknown to me. As for the other, P-51K 44-11945, no data....

FJ-4B Fury 141454 was lost over water when Lt DL Caulkins ejected 8 May, 1959. Fury 143556 is listed as being lost, the pilot ejected on 6 January, 1961.

Many many B-29 flights over Mt Fuji during the war. The first photo is a group of post-war B-29's, most likely during the Korean war.
