O2 bottle question..

Anyone have any specs, documents or anything else that gives dimensions for the various sized O2 bottles used in the war? The AT uses 3 of the G-1 cylinders, which are about 13" in diameter and 24" in length, and 1 F-1 cylinder, along with 3 portable units. So far, I've struck out on finding dimensions or even a photo of an F-1 cylinder. Anyone have anything that gives the info or even a photo? The portable info will have to wait until I can get into the drawings and see if they are specified there.

I'm also looking to buy some G-1's and an F-1 if I can find them at decent prices.

Cam: Will do, but it will probably be Friday before I can. I'm off work at 8 am Central and hit the bed by 2 pm. so is that tie window good? Otherwise, I'm on the road to work at 2200 and hit the hangar about 2330, on Sunday thru Thursday. Weekends are very hit and miss due to our overtime schedule.

Thanks Brandon. That helps a bunch. I see that MIL-C-5888 has been superseded by MIL-DTL-5886, so I was able to find some of the other data that I needed. Quick question....does your copy of 5888 show that it superseded a previous spec? The info that I could find shows that 5888 came about in 1951 and it's linage might show the Air Corp spec from WW2. I know a bunch of my electrical parts call outs reference Air Corp Specs in a 94-xxxxx series, which I haven't been able to find a source for, along with some early AN30xx specs.

BTW...you going to make it into the DFW area again this next year? Our mutual friend has un-retired and is now working for the outfit that used to be in Grand Prairie.

Don't have any expectations of making it to Texas anytime soon, but one never knows!

I just wish that my old Chino friend, Doug Damiano, would have been able to fly his L-5 more before he passed.

Any chance of having AN3015 thru AN3019 in your library?

Yeah, wish Doug and a few others were still hanging around and coming out to play.
