Either painted to the specs of, or approximation of, the British "Temperate Sea" colour scheme - Dark Slate Grey (topside greenish color), Extra Dark Sea Grey (topside dark bluish-grey color), over Sky lower surfaces

The clipped wings were so they could fit below decks of Royal Navy aircraft carriers, which were shorter than there USA counterparts.
Original colour shots like this are wonderful.

Fantastic color photo!

It looks like a stall strip is on the right wing, outboard of the guns. I have not noticed this before on Corsairs. I can't say I can see it on the left wing. Is this common on all Corsairs, or only a few?

Except for some of the earliest produced (which may have been retro-fitted?) they all have it, right wing only.

The stall strip was installed from the late F4U-1A and beyond. It helped to moderate the exaggerated torque stalling of the Corsair which was one of its biggest issues during the initial carrier trials. The stall strip didn't eliminate the possibility of the left wing stalling first, but it did make it much more controllable.

does anyone have more info on other aircrafts? Seafire Mk I ? Martlet G?
