locating Poncho Barnes old hangar

Tue Oct 03, 2017 12:03 pm

Im trying to locate pictures of the former Poncho Barnes hangar. She had one hangar at the Barns airfield and it was apparently relocated to El Mirage airport. A study of google map, I am not sure which hangar it is or if its still there. Would love to see a picture of it. I would imagine this would be a very historic building, from a time of legendary accomplishments.

hello

thanks Mike! I found the hangar and its still there! It matches the hangar at Barnes airfield in an old photo. Amazing its still around! Is nice to know a bit of Poncho Barnes history is still out there! :D :)

Also of interest, it seems the hangar was used as a backdrop for the film "Last Flight of Noah's Ark”.

Yay! Glad to see humour alive and well on this forum. I thought it had gone to the old folks home. :drink3:
