Thanks for the info Mike. That contradicts what I was told. I'll bet my contact got the P-38 identities confused. I believe you.

Has restoration started on that one yet, or is it just in storage?

Stored for the moment. The prospective restorers have been rather busy lately, operating a Spitfire Tr9, Seafire III, Hurricane, Hawker Fury, TF-51 (until it was wrecked), Spitfire XIV, a two-Pitts aerobatic team, and restoring a growing number of Buchons (currently up to 4), a Spitfire XII and an ex-361st FG P-51D. I'm sure they'll get round to the P-38 eventually,
