Probably old news for most of you, but "Thunderball" (1965) was just on.I hadn't seen it in years and they had a C-97 dropping scuba divers and later a white B-17 dropping a raft and then using the skyhook apparatus to pick up 007.

IIIRC, the C-97 is (or is supposed to be) a HC-97 ARS ship dropping US military.

The B-17 is well documented.

It also hooked up Bond's lady friend (Domino).

Probably the most amazing 'pick-up line' she had ever experienced.

That B-17 just flew to Florida to the Collings folks to get started with her.
I wish I had known when they were going to do engine runs and fly her out, I would have driven down there to see her.

I heard it was a Wisconsin ANG C-97.

But she does not have the proper MILSPEC safety gear!

Insert comment about flotation devices here.

Will be flying in the colors of the 8th AF, 40th BW, 305th BG ? It is going to be nice to see green markings...not too common of a color. I'm looking forward to it.

By the look of the pair of them in the photo it doesn't appear she has any need of extra flotation resources - but in view of their imminent departure from the dinghy she might well get prepared for a 'bit of a blow' on the way up. Might need some sort of parachute to keep her safe from the elements (and 007).
