Probably DOES have a Volkswagen based engine so there is some relation...
Erich Hartmann is rolling over in his grave right now.

Only question is what color are the inside gear doors painted? :D

Simmer down kids - no great conspiracy by the "evil media conglomerates"; just low-level sloppily-written clickbait, soon to be forgotten.

Owner is guilty of being politically incorrect.

Some semi tongue in cheek predictions:
-The FAA will probably look for a way to take his license.
-The owner will get fired or if he's the boss, his firm will be boycotted
-The Southern Poverty Law Center will list this as a hate crime
-The next time there is a reason to mention this, the New York Times will cite this as a example of "growing right-wing hate"

Still, it's one thing to put Luftwaffe markings on your plane, but the swastika is a bit of a no-no today. Even if I had a '109, I doubt if I'd put it on just to avoid the hassle.

Given the prevalence of white supremacist groups you're asking for yourself to be identified with such leanings...or for folks to ponder, "is he, or ain't he?"....even if it was a leetle tiney swastika. Regardless, it's free speech if "he does" and he''ll take his lumps with fervor. With the balkenkreuz and the paint scheme most folks get the parody of the Luftwaffe markings on the little Sonex. If "he doesn't" care to be associated with the Nazi's, he could've put a little thought into it and boldly displayed one of the more fanciful Staffel markings like the Mickey Mouse running with the bomb, or Baron Munchausen riding a bomb, steppenwolf badge etc. on the tail instead.

These are the reasons why the is no Confederate Air Force anymore. :?

It's a question of persective : there is various countries here in Europe where there is no problem to operate warbirds in full historical markings, including Nazi symbols, without any doubt on the owners /operators want of just show a plane in its real markings.

I don't understand why it's so tricky on your side of the pond.

For me the main problem is this plane is ugly and 0% accurency and it would be the same problem if it was wearing the markings of a P51 or Spitfire.

Interesting that the engine builder was the guy that crashed due to engine failure...
