Just wondering how the shows at Rhinebeck are this year, from anyone who has been there yet this season. What are they flying?

Is the Spirit of St. Louis a regular participant in the Saturday shows?

I saw they have a new Sopwith Pup since late June, rebuilt by Brian Coughlin from the Kermit Weeks one wrecked by the 1982 hurricane. Is that flying in the Sunday shows?

I expect I'll be visiting in a couple of weeks regardless, so if nobody sounds off before then, I'll give a report.

I follow ORA on Facebook, and they've stated that they are still waiting for a Saturday with nice-enough weather to fly the Spirit of St. Louis replica (although they have flown it this year on some other occasions). This past Sunday they were flying the Coughlin Sopwith Pup, ORA Fokker Dr.1 and Fokker D.VII, as well as hops in the Curtiss Pusher, Bleriot, Hanriot and Caudron (in addition to some types from the 20's and 30's that were flying over the course of the weekend).

I vote for giving a report in any case. :D

I went for my first time ever a couple of weeks back. I attended on Sunday, they flew the following aircraft:

- New Standard (rides)
- Great Lakes
- Tiger Moth
- Fokker D.VII (included aerobatics!)
- Hanriot (short hop)
- Caudron (short hop)
- Curtiss Robin
- Jenny
- Fokker Dr.1
- Sopwith Pup
- Fleet Finch
- Cub

It was a great show and the kids loved it.

I have been there three weeks ago >>> the Pup seems to fly regularly now.

Unfortunately the pilot of the Ryan told me that they want to do some further testing before using the machine in the Weekend Shows >>> but surely sometime in this year...

Thank you guys for all the intel. I think the 1st Sunday in August will be my [first] visit this year, weather permitting.

Excited at the idea of seeing a Pup there again. It will bring back the old days.

I had some fun at Rhinebeck yesterday.

The Pup is lovely, but it did not fly, because it was sold last week and will be leaving Rhinebeck. So, those of you who saw it during its short time there can count yourself lucky.

This leaves ORA with no Allied fighters and so Percy had to commandeer the Albatros to do battle with the Baron. However, I was told that they hope to bring the Spad, Dolphin and Nieuport 17 on line in the next year or two, and they may have some Pup aspirations also.

Otherwise, it was a fine show. There was almost no wind so they were able to hop the Hanriot and even flew the Caudron down the strip both ways. The D.VII acro, which I had not seen, is quite impressive. The Robin is a beauty, and they put up a 5-ship of New Standard, Robin, Great Lakes, Tiger Moth and Finch that was memorable. The Finch, by the way, is not the one we are used to seeing at ORA. It seems a couple years ago they tracked down Cole Palen's old Fleet that was the first plane he ever flew out of Rhinebeck and re-acquired it. The Jenny was wonderful as always.

I have pics if anyone cares to see them.
