I will think it's his Lockheed Jetstar.

Okay, we have any more history on it? Looked around and only see it claimed to be his but no background, no N-Number, Serial or anything beyond that it was put up in 2008 and apparently not sold.

1962 L-1329 Jetstar 6, N440RM. Up for auction again: http://www.stuff.co.nz/travel/news/9281 ... new-mexico

One thing is for sure, it won't be flying anywhere. The engines have been removed and are currently on display at the Tennessee Museum of Aviation in Sevierville, TN. I saw them a month ago at the museum.

I thought the JetStar was at Graceland?

Also, years ago I recall hearing one of his jets was on display at a mall parking lot. Different aircraft? Did he have more than one JetStar?

I found one website late last night that references Elvis buying a second Jetstar because the first was "subject an to FBI investigation that wasn't resolved until after his death," but no further details on registration or disposition of either of the Jetstars to tell which was which, but I'm guessing that, if provenance holds, N440RM is the one that was in the legal battle as I found this when looking up the registration -

https://www.planelogger.com/Aircraft/Re ... 0RM/755010

However, this history is somewhat interesting because it doesn't have a date of return, only that it was in the possession of Air Capital in 1981 (about the right timing), but no information of the airplane in the Elvis estate or anything in the intervening years. Supposedly the aircraft was purchased ca. 1975 by Elvis so it'd be in that timeframe that is "unknown".

I also found out that the current auctioneers of the airplane are the same ones that auctioned it off in 2008, only the name of the company has changed from Kruse to GWS.

Here's another thread with what appears to be more information - https://discussions.flightaware.com/post131369.html

I'm not discounting that this isn't Elvis's airplane as there are some references to him having 2 Jetstars, but it just seems there's too much information on this airplane that doesn't quite add up and no real proof anywhere provided that this was in fact "his" Jetstar.

I was based in Roswell in 88-89. There was a very faded red Jetstar rotting away on the ramp. It was a common story around the airport that it once belonged to Elvis. The story went on to say that some company had bought it but went bust and abandoned the airplane where it was. Not being preserved, it would take a huge amount of money to even make a static display out of it. if the title is in question, that makes it even more difficult. Air Capitol was mentioned. Was that Air Capitol Warbirds in Wichita by any chance. Whatever happened to that company? Was it involved in the Jetstar? JR

As BK mentioned, the nacelles are at the TN Museum of Aviation in Sevierville. I took these pics there last month.

In 2000, I saw a Howard 500 at the Anoka-Blaine airport in MN.

I was told that this had belonged to Elvis Presley. I saw a toilet with gold fixtures on it (did not metal test it to make sure it was gold... :drink3: :drink3: )

Anyone here knows more about it? Not trying to hijack the thread...

Saludos,

Tulio

No, it wasn't Air Capitol Warbirds. It was Air Capital Aircraft Sales, a well known aircraft sales & financing company of that era. I believe they were based out of Memphis at the time, but they may have later moved to Wichita, I haven't dug into their history enough to know.

Sounds familiar... Mesa pilot? I was a Mesa guy, based Roswell 95-96; the Jetstar was fairly complete and parked on a west side ramp. And yes, I climbed in to take a peek...

I wonder if parked on the ramp all these years if that 60/70's hooker velvet interior and foam cushion material isn't getting kinda crunchy...not to mention the glue of the woodwork being very baked with the temperature extremes? $13 million would have to be a whole lotta Elvis fanatic!
