Excellent idea! A thread I'll be checking daily, if not more often!

From what I remember seeing:

5 Corsairs
3 Mitsubishi Zeros (Not Tora planes)
2 SBD's
3 P-40's
8 or 9 Mustangs including A,C, and D models
2 Yak fighters
3 Tigercats
2 B-25's
1 PB4Y
3 C-47's
1 FW-190

Plus all the normal POF aircraft except for the P-47 which is up in NorCal getting some work done.

For those who will inevitably ask - no Hispano Buchon, no P-59 and no "Dottie Mae".

Sorry, no pictures.

No B-17s either?
And how dusty was the west end of the parking lot?

Add to that the Palm Springs P-63, CAF Wildcat, CAF SoCal Spitfire and Hellcat, the Friedkin Skyraider and a couple Sea Furies from Sanders. Sort of weird not having the POF (or any) Thunderbolts, but the POF P-26, AT-12, N9M, Val (replica), TBM, T-33, Mig-15, and F-86 (among others/in addition to those already mentioned) were flying yesterday. The five Corsairs were those from POF, Rod Lewis, Dan Friedkin, Jack Erickson, and Chuck Wentworth - comprising of an F4U-1A, two FG-1D's, an F4U-4, and an F4U-7. Perhaps even more rare than seeing five Corsairs together is the 3 Zero's on the ramp (first time since the POF airshow in 2012), as well as two SBD's on the ramp (albeit the Erickson example being an A-24 in disguise). The three Tigercats comprise of Dan Friekdin's (ex-Historic Flight Foundation), one of Rod Lewis', and Joe Clark's. Also great to see the Friedkin P-40M flying in the show (it seems to have had some engine-related issues keeping it mostly ground-bound over the past year or so) - all three P-40's at the show, POF/Friendkin/Paul, painted in North African Theatre desert markings. Pretty cool to see Steve Barber's Yak-3 flying/flown-in as well (a rare sight outside the CAF Camarillo hangars in recent years), joining the POF Yak-3.

Mr. Terrell,

Can you please tell me who owns the third Zero?

Thanks

The three Zeros are the examples owned by Planes of Fame, CAF SoCal, and Masahide Ishizuka (a Japanese businessman) - all three are the same ones that flew together at the Planes of Fame 2012 show.

Ishizuka's Zero (one time known as the "Mojave Zero"), is the example that was imported into Japan a couple years ago and was flown in Japan by Skip Holm back in January 2016. Since that time/more recently, the aircraft was sent back to Chino where California-based (but Japanese-born) pilot Kazuaki Yanagida has been getting rated in the aircraft in order to fly it in Japan this summer, as this article describes: http://www.asahi.com/ajw/articles/AJ201705010043.html

Thank you very much for the info. This is the first year I missed the POF show, as I now live in Texas. Going to try and make it to the Breckenridge show at the end of this month.

Encyclopedia John Terrell were you at the show this year? Found a photo of the Skyraider on the show face book page. Not sure if you can access it but the Air Show page has lots of photos from the show...

Back in the day on a Skyfire video from one of the races Jay mention that he was flying the worlds fastest Skyraider at Reno...
