Anyone know of any guest warbirds coming to the Wings over the Beach airshow at Military Aviation Museum, Virginia, May 19-21? Any new aircraft from MAM?

I missed the 109 last year, she flew on the Friday I believe before rain came in. I have never seen a 109 fly, so I think I think it is a must I go again this year.

Great place.

Been 3 times , 2013 ,2015, 2016 . First time to see the Mossie and it did rain that Sat. seen it fly that Friday. Anticipated the 109 to be there in 2015 but no. 109 did fly in 2016 on Friday and I took a flight in the Stearman on Sat. and no rain, we left Sunday so it may have rained then. Wish they would get the Mig 3 and La -9 into the air. Best to get there Friday, lots of flying and no crowds.

According to the airshow website , Milavia. net , B-25 Miss Mitchell, C46 Tinker Belle, P51-D Red Nose and I think the SBD-5 Dauntless from a CAF group are supposed to show up. They may have their latest Dragon Rapide flying. It was awesome when the Lancaster showed up a couple years ago.

Yes, the "Warbirds Over the Beach" airshow is one of several events that the CAF Minnesota Wing's B-25 "Miss Mitchell" will be participating in (together with the Dixie Wing P-51 and SBD) during its east coast tour, following the Doolittle Raiders reunion. This will be a rare opportunity for those on the east coast to see and fly in one of the finest restorations in the CAF fleet (and following upon a winter-full of work that has made what was already a very authentic restoration even more so).

Checking the webcams at MAM and it shows in the Navy hanger what could only be the Dixie Wings P-63. The resident P-63 , static, is in the Army hanger. Of all the years I couldn't be there, RATS. Wish they would get their outside cameras up and running as before.

The weather didn't cooperate today, and the afternoon's flying was cancelled. Tomorrow is supposed to be better. The CAF P-51D, SBD, and B-25 flew some in the morning.

Weather was beautiful albeit a little warm this morning when I arrived in the Twin Beech, but went to crap around noon.

I went on Sunday, and they put on a good show- like they always do when weather cooperates. Understand that nothing flew on Saturday due to high winds.

For Sunday there were a few guest aircraft flying; CAF P-63, “Val” and “Kate, and the Dixie Dauntless and the C-46. The guest P-51 and B-25 were doing rides before the show, and the B-25 right after, but did not fly during the show.

My recollection (may forget a few)

First wave was the trainers/liaison.

Second wave Pacific: “Val”, “Kate”, Corsair, A-1, Dauntless, PBY, Wildcat

Third- American wave: C-46 w/ Paratrooper drop, P-40, P-63, P-51

Fourth: Spitfire, Hurricane, Mosquito, Yak-3.

The 109 and the 190 were on the ramp, but did not fly. I was really hoping to see the 109 fly.

Avenger had a cover over the canopy, did not fly. No me-262 from Suffolk.

Was excited to see the King Cobra! Highlight for me.

Anybody get any pictures of the CAF P-63 as Mark Todd was doing the honors?

TIA

Pictures, where are the pictures?!!! Is it just me or are we seeing a serious reduction in the number of pictures posted of these events? For example the Planes of Fame airshow. Used to be you could count on pictures being posted pretty much as events happened and certainly copious amounts of them in the days and weeks after the show. Now we're lucky if one or two folks put up a hand full of photos. And we don't even have Fencecheck to fall back on any more, bummer.

The ride airplanes all flew Saturday morning (SBD, Stearman, Waco, PT-19, Miss Mitchell (B-25). Winds started to pick up (direct xind gusting to 23 its) around noon and then the clouds rolled in. Ceiling was only about 900' over the field when we departed.

Some of mine from Saturday. A little flying, and several just taxiing.

Thanks for sharing these photos.

I was able to get a video of the 109 during a run up - https://youtu.be/g2fYvqYxaSE
