I shot these photos from the window of a motor coach on May 13, 2016, near Marseilles, France. Sorry for the poor quality. It was a gloomy, rainy day with poor lighting, the bus windows were dirty, and the bus was moving.

Notice that the northern aircraft are often on poles...to keep them out of winter snows. Also a bit of bank or climb allows drainage. Smart.

It is: being a rare 47-FY model I wish they'd bring it down. Each time I've seen it, it's gently squeaking in the breeze.

The St. Marie's, Idaho (a logging town at the foot of Lake Coeur d'Alene) airport has a F-100F weathervane. Neat...and like many of the aircraft here, rather unexpected.

The Lance Sijan memorial F-4 Phantom in Milwaukee is in the process of being moved to it's new area. The dedication for the new display is planned to be Friday May 26th, for the start of the Memorial Day weekend.

I remember being there once with my son and seeing an older jogger who would kiss his hand and then touch the support structure each lap around the park. Obviously a strong connection!

This particular T-bird is actually 21272, as the real 21616 crashed in 1973.
'616 was one of two Silver Stars used by the RCAF Golden Hawks as a support aircraft, and this example is dedicated to Wing Commander Jack Allen, who was the commanding officer of the Golden Hawks from 1960-62, and was born and raised in Nanton.
