Gone west, ad astra. Probably the most eloquently spoken of all the moon walkers, he did much to bring the rest of us along for the ride. And for that I thank you with all my heart, Geno. Blues skies, sir - or should I say black skies? He'd know what I mean. 8)

Awful news that put a big downer on my day. I only saw The Last Man On The Moon last month - must-see viewing for space fans, as well as those into military aviation. It's a great insight for people like me who only know him from Apollo.

The first and the last are gone. I was really, really hoping one or both would see us return.

I just had a quick look at Wikipedia: of the Apollo missions which landed on the moon, only the crew of Apollo 16 now survives in its entirety.

It is my hope that one day Cernan will not be known as the last man to walk on the moon but, the last man from the Apollo project to walk on the moon.

Fair winds, sir.

Gemini 9, Apollo 10, Apollo 17...the man was a legend. He championed the cause for NASA funding and manned spaceflight for decades. We lost another great voice and aviator...
