FYI....

I didn't see this posted anywhere. The auction says there are 3 of them. This one is put together, the others are not.

The link is for an old Coast Guard book. Here's the aircraft:

Serial looks like 50-20_? Possibly 203? That one may have gone to Mexico, per this list (page 41-45):
http://www.thai-aviation.net/files/T_28 ... litary.pdf
Tail number is T28-931; that number is on a T-28A currently on display in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The rudder and the empennage art, the serial number, all are from a former Mexican AF T-28.

Saludos,

There is an addition to the e-bay posting, stating that the only one for sale for now, is the example that is assembled. The other two will be put up for auction later. And there is a charge to disassemble the airplane once is sold.

Saludos,

Tulio

Thanks for the correction.

In the first pic, I just noticed the bumper sticker on the engine cowl of a plane from south of the border.

T-28s are located at Rickards' Restorations and Auto Body, Inc. in Millsboro, DE. They should give one to the VFW across the street.

At first look, I thought it might have been recovered from salt water, then I realized it's location is just a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean.

It's a shame it's so corroded.

On second thought were these the T-28's that sold at auction in Emporia Virginia last summer ? The wings, fuselages, cowlings and engines were all separate sitting on the ground in a grass lot. I think they were sold by Gray CO Services and had a live sale on proxibid.

Looks like it is worth $7K. Would make a great static display but even for free you would be upside down if you restored it to flight.

That seems like a lot for a junkyard aircraft. somebody must really want it.
I would have guessed it was worth half that.

Those A models are early models with the rollover bar between the cockpits and the rare two bladed Aeroproducts prop. All they need is the high profile canopy and a couple other things to be 100% authentic. If I were the buyer , I would restore to a faithful USAF A model condition, static display. Then try to trade, plus cash, to a museum that has an airworthy example they no longer fly. Museum retains one for display and the other guy gets an example that would be much cheaper to get flying again than what they have now.
