Attached is the photo of N71Y lying derelict at Bogota around 1998. Aircraft was later scrapped. Photo by G. rodriguez.

Question: the rudder clearly came from another aircraft. Which one would this be? In the upper part of the rudder, the numbers "5-0" appears. However, no civilian Invader ever carried a reg ending in these letters/numbers. I'm not familiar with the logo showing the letter "A" inside a blue circle. Any info about this mystery higly appreciated.

Are there any good books or references out there on On Mark Invaders?

Is that a C-119 behind the Invader?

The authors are Dan P. Hagedorn and Leif Hellstrom.

The book is really good, if you can find a copy.

Last two copies I have seen, I purchased at the Wright-Patt USAF Museum two years ago.

If I were a bet'n man I would put my money on that being a Fairchild C-82 "Packet" and not the C-119.

On Old Props it's reported as being registered HK-426 c/n 10119. In their census the only report on 11 airframes. So out 223 built, one might consider it quite desirable. I do know that a restored C-82 at the 1998 EAA Oskosh Fly-In was awarded "Most Rare Transport". Sad thing is if the A-26 was scrapped more than likely the C-82 might have been aswell, but you never know. I would like to see that someone had saved this aircraft, heck if I had won that 280 million lotto I would save her. Oh well what will be, will be.

That's one drawback to living in Maine. One has to drive down to the
New Hampshire Liqour Store on I-95 to get the PowerBall tickets(and Whatever?). A long drive, yet some how, rewarding. And it provides me te opportunity to partake of Col. Rohrs company.

I asked the photographer about the ID of the C-82: Here's his answer:

About the Invader, it turns out the final digit on the rudder is a "G", not an "0"
