HOT OFF THE THUNDER AIR SHOW PRESS! The very rare Collings Foundation Curtiss-Wright P-40B Tomahawk will attend the Thunder Over Michigan Air Show September 2, 3 & 4, 2017. This will be the North American air show debut of this ultra rare historic warbird. Only 131 P-40B's were constructed in 1940/41. This particular aircraft was assigned to the U. S. Army Air Corps 18th Pursuit Group at Wheeler Army Airfield in Hawaii. It was undergoing maintenance in a hangar when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbour on Sunday morning December 7, 1941.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

I still hadn't bought advance tickets as of yesterday and was actually considering skipping TOM a second year in a row, but this and the last update have changed that. Can't wait to see the P-40B. Great addition!

If Texas Flying Legends can be roped into this (especially the Zero) that will make one heck of a formidable duo. An authentic (looking) A6M2 and a P-40B. Oh man.

Wasn't their Zero damaged a couple years ago by another aircraft's prop hitting it? I saw it at Sun N Fun in 2014/15 but heard it was pretty badly damaged some time after

Selfridge Hawgs coming now I see. Are we going to get that special 75th Anniversary paint job?

The accident only happened just last year (March 2016) - the Corsair was repaired quite quickly, but the Zero took a bit more time. The Zero was first flown again as of June 30th (this summer), and it has since been painted and ready to go. Here is an up-to-date photo:

The rear fuselage/empennage of the Zero was fully rebuilt using a lot of parts that had already been previously made, and a number of updates were incorporated into the aircraft this time around - such as an original-type operational tailhook and accurate-looking replica guns mounted in the cockpit/ahead of/on each side of the instrument panel (into which the limited avionics are installed).

With regard to the possibility of any TFL aircraft showing up to Thunder, some of the TFL fleet/pilots are already scheduled to be flying in the Pikes Peak Regional Airshow this weekend.

Actually it's 100th anniversary. Ugly scheme, IMO, but certainly different.

Nice to see the Selfridge A-10s participating. The anniversary A-10 was awesome to see in person at the Selfridge Airshow a couple weekends ago. I thought it looked pretty stupid in photos, but it looks way better and is really cool to see in person. Hoping for another chance to see it!

I went to that show too. Didn't care for the paint scheme in person either. The heritage flight with the F-35 was cool though. And it was a nice surprise to see the whole Yankee fleet there.
