Corsair mishap 7/19/16 ?

Anybody know the extent of damage on N179PT? As one of the Corsairs I see often at events, I was certainly bummed to see this. Glad there were no injuries. Hope it's not too bad and hope rebuild is underway.

Right outer wing damaged & under repair at John Lane's: Completion imminent.
Brake master cylinders damaged: status unknown.

Too bad.

Brakes are a critical system on a Corsair. I haven't flown ours (at VWoC), but the guys who do say you need brakes to keep straight on every landing -- it doesn't have tailwheel steering, just a tailwheel lock.

It's meant to pick up a cable, which of course cancels the need for tailwheel steering. Without the cable, you need serviceable brakes.

Delmar Benjamin used to say (in regards to his Gee Bee) that "to lose the brakes, would be to lose the airplane."

Probably something similar in something as high performance as the Corsair.
