Hi All,

I am creating a list of all RCAF P-51, their fate and eventually full individual histories and as such I am looking for pictures of RCAF P-51`s while they were in service, or throughout their lifespan. I am hoping to get either pictures where you own the rights or they are public domain as I may eventually offer this as a booklet that I will charge a minimal fee for and don`t want to run into copyright issues.

any help or direction towards fulfilling this project is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Sean

I will be very interested to see this list as my cousin was the C.O. of 424 sqd RCAF at one point
Unfortunately he left very little in the way of pictures and record of his post war RCAF career but we do have a fair amount from his wartime period
Please post the list for all to see when completed
Thanks

In-case you're not aware of this site, this is the most comprehensive lists I have seen to-date of post-WWII RCAF Mustangs and their individual histories:

http://www.rwrwalker.ca/RCAF_9221_9250_detailed.html
http://www.rwrwalker.ca/RCAF_9251_9300_detailed.html (numerous 424 Sqd. listings)
http://www.rwrwalker.ca/RCAF_9550_9600_detailed.html (numerous 424 Sqd. listings)

(Note "TF Mk.IV" was the standard designation given to a stock/fighter variant P-51D/F-51D by the RCAF in the 50's - "TF" referring to "Tactical Fighter" as I recall, not "Trainer".)

That is the site i have used to creat my initial excel sheet. I will post that here soon. I willnthen creat a detailed history for each aircraft using multiple cross referenced sources.

That is what actually got my mind moving. I have already E-mailed Dave for his input. What is your name BTW..I have been a volunteer out at VWC for almost 10 years now.

RE:Photo Credit for above Mustang photo

This photo is scanned from a 35 mm Kodak slide that I have had since the mid-50's. So its original source is long lost. If you want a photo credit use:"From the Collection of JD Voss"

Work keeps me busy and we have a 3 month old at home..Not alot of free time. It was tough enough to get time for the two airshows I get to go to this year...lol.

All photos credited to Canada. Dept. of National Defence/Library and Archives Canada.

Now to get a little didactic...I have seen this TF Mk.IV designation tossed around online as if it is fact. Until someone can show me a primary RCAF document (record card, RCAF E.O., etc.) using such a designation I will continue to hold the position it is total fiction. The post war RCAF designation of the P-51D was Mustang 4.
