... of a particular historical WW2 airplane or event. Trust me, you haven't. There's a lot of people who could really care less about what we as enthusiasts of warbirds, WW2 history etc. think is historically important and priceless. Lots of valuable and significant history is thrown away daily. Sad but true. I'm happy I've decided to make collecting old photos a hobby of mine. I've been able to find some really neat stuff over the years and I've always been glad to share it with like minded people to learn new things as I do and show respect to those who were in those photos. It's just a hobby for me. ..... but, sometimes a discovery happens that even floors me as I've always thought I've seen it all. Not even close.

All this said, I found some albums. 8)
I've contacted the owner.

Question is: if and when I receive them, do I start posting them right away? ..... or should I wait until .... Dec 7th.

If and whenever ..... be sitting!!!! pop2

Guess it's best to edit the thread title since it's turned into a 'Bell thing' ... and no complaints, all good stuff.

the sooner the better, debating and commenting on the photos could go on for months

From the few photos I've seen there won't be much to debate.

Some are at the quality level of these two photos below.

Post away Mark! Love to see your photos.

My 'thrown away' story: turns out there was a man down the street from where my folks lived in Colorado that was in charge of setting up cameras for the bikini A-bomb tests. He was having a garage sale and had of a few of the prints (which I bought) and offered to have me come back in a couple weeks to see other prints (which he said were made from negatives that he 'kept' )

Two weeks later I went back and saw an 'estate sale' sign on the yard. Turns out he passed away a couple days after I talked with him. His daughter had come in from out of town to get his house emptied out. I asked about the airplane photos/albums/negatives and she said she had seen all that 'stuff' in the garage and thought nothing of throwing it all that away the weekend prior.

Interesting story with a sad ending. too common :(
I hope to be able to acquire these particular albums though. We'll see what happens as I know there a few others in the mix trying to get them as well. Looks like it will be about $$$.

I found a album in the trash at work on time that was full of photos from the Cleveland National Air Race that was full of shots of some of the most well known racers, a couple of Y1B-17s, and B-18s. scanned a few of them at one time.
