By any chance does anyone have pictures of a Staggerwing that won "Best in Show" at the 1979 EAA Fly National Fly In ? (N46431)

If not anything before or after would be awesome. These are for the current owner.

I have searched my files, but don't have one of this plane.

I see that the info above is from beech17.net. I'm not sure what that site means by "1979 EAA Fly National Fly In." If it means Oshkosh, the grand champion antique that year was a Howard. "Best in show" was not an award given at Oshkosh. Accordingly I did not find a feature article on this plane in the 1979 issues of Sport Aviation or The Vintage Airplane, where the winning aircraft were profiled.

I'll keep looking for you and see if I find anything.

August,

I really appreciate the help. I had assumed the name had changed since then 1979. I also checked several issues of Sport Aviation that year and struck out.

Thanks for the digging, JH

I just googled 1979 EAA National Fly-In and, the above link came up. On the first page, in the editorial, there is mention of the upcoming 1979 EAA National Convention in Tullahoma, TN. It is possible this could be the source of the award, not Oshkosh.

I attended the EAA Fly-in in Tullahoma in 1979. The Beechcraft Heritage Museum is located on the field but at the time of the EAA Fly-ins '79-80 I believe it was strictly a Staggerwing museum.
