Are these RNAF F-16s actually based in Netherlands or are these the ones stationed in Tucson AZ with the AZ Air Guard? I saw about a dozen RNAF F-16s out there last summer and someone told me that they are based there.

You can ask the RNLAF crew where they are based when you see them at the show.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

They are RNLAF Block 20s attached to the 148th FS AZ ANG. They are there to train Dutch pilots since the wx is better in Arizona than in Europe. Several countries having training units in the U.S.. In addition to the Dutch Block 20s at Tuscon IAP, there are Luftwaffe Tornados (for now) in New Mexico, RSAF has F-16Ds Block 52s at Luke, and RSAF F-15SGs at Mountain Home.

I saw the RSAF F-16Ds at Nellis once during Green Flag. They look like regular U.S. F-16Ds except they have the dorsal spine and the Singapore national insignia on the fuselage instead of the star-and-bar.

Just remember that most, if not all of the recently mentioned currently serving military aircraft coming to Thunder are strictly static display aircraft for the Sat. and Sun. shows.

Hopefully we will get a few more announced helicopters and/or vintage warbirds that will be in the flying lineup.

Just 7 weeks to the show!

:)

If I have counted right from the last several pages of this thread....

Excluding The Breitling Jet Team, the F-22, the F/A-18F Super Hornet and several current military statics coming in as announced by Tom Walsh, the announced performer lineup so far includes 17 aircraft:

•10 Helicopters

•1 MiG-23 Flogger

6 WWII warbirds:

• P-51D PETIE 2nd
• P-51D Ain't Misbehavin
• P-51D Sierra Sue II
• A-26B Silver Dragon
• TBM-3E (Brad Decker)
• TBM-3 (MAAM)

Under 7 weeks to the show....Look forward to more announcements and an aircraft list on the web site before long hopefully.

There is also the two P-51's based at the field

N551J P-51D "Gentleman Jim"
N551E P-51B "Old Crow"

The "B" usually flies in the morning battle re-enacment and the "D" flies some years and is static others.

Although, last year, neither was on the ramp or in the show, so not a guarantee, especially if it's not on their list.
