There is also the two P-51's based at the field

The "B" usually flies in the morning battle re-enacment and the "D" flies some years and is static others.

Although, last year, neither was on the ramp or in the show, so not a guarantee, especially if it's not on their list.

Agree - if not announced on here by Michael Luther, I wouldn't count on it.

They were (sorta) announced already.

Yes, you are right. If they are on the ramp, hope they fly - would be nice to see 5 Mustangs (or more if there are still pending announcements) in the air. Hopefully the B-17, B-25 and C-47 will do some show flybys also.

Old Crow and Gentleman Jim were both in the show last year. I double checked my photos, and remember they did some nice passes with Ain't Misbehavin. I don't think these aircraft are typically on the list, but usually participate.

Only 20 slots are available for the Friday Taxiway Photography and the Saturday/Sunday Photo Tour/Pit packages.

Cheers,

A 102nd Rescue Squadron (RQS) HC-130P/N "King" Hercules will be on static display at Thunder Over Michigan this August 20 and 21. This aircraft is assigned to the New York Air National Guard (NYANG). The 102nd is the Guard's oldest unit.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

A US Navy Boeing P-8A Poseidon Multimission Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MMPA) will grace the ramp for the first time at the 2016 Thunder Over Michigan Air Show on August 20 and 21.

Cheers,

you guys are going all out for this one aren't you!

Even if all you had flying was the F-22, MI-23 and F-18E I would still be there. Keep it up 5 more weeks!

A mini-Mustang gathering in the works! The Fourth announced P-51D in the lineup and if Old Crow and Gentleman Jim are there also, that will make SIX Mustangs so far.

5 1/2 weeks to the show!

That would probably be the Heritage Flight P-51D for the F-22 Raptor.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

Sure wish they had an F-86 Sabre to make it at least a 3 ship/3 generation HF, but those are very rare and very tough to come by this year based on aircraft type and Heritage Flight qualified pilots.

We will take what we can get.

The first aircraft list has been posted on the show's web site:

http://yankeeairmuseum.org/airshow/aircraft-list/

The list of course is a mix of performing/flying aircraft and aircraft that are just coming for static display on Sat. and Sun. so it must be viewed carefully.

A very nice grouping of Helicopter, vintage warbirds and others, Arrivals on Friday could be quite interesting.

So far the single aircraft I am most looking forward to seeing fly is the MiG-23, but there should be a lot of great action August 20-21 and hopefully we will see a few more vintage warbirds and/or helicopters added to the list in the final month before the show.

I do not believe the posted aircraft list is accurate.

Hopefully, someone will remedy this situation.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.
