I'm sure many remember he sad tale of an airworthy WWII Catalina destroyed in the filming
of a Nic Cage movie,"USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage".

Local media in Mobile, AL just broke a story that the remains, a sad and sorry sight, will wind
up at Battleship Park. I'd know there had been discussions, but had nothing in a long time.

Don't have any details yet' like a news story, but will post a link when they are available. I
sure hope it comes with a printing press for $100.00 bills.

I figured there was some behind the scenes grabbing going on. Personally I would rather see it go to the guy that was going to make it a flyer again.

So will this be an outside plane or an inside plane?

That decision is waaaaay, way above my pay grade.
I will say it won't go in the hangar as it without something
else coming out. Who wanted to make it airworthy again?

The article stated one of the three parties interested wanted to make it a flier.

Atleast it is going to a good home, and one that is familiar with dealing with salt water. I hope they'll be able to make a nice static display out of it.

My useless opinion.....good homes don't store good planes outside next to salt water.

"“Said they want to cut a deal, they’d sell me the plane for $10! And I said, you got it! Our aircraft manager, Mike Thompson will do his magic and put together what he can and certainly make it as good a static display as possible,” says Booth.

“I just think it’s awesome, I mean with everything else that’s here. I just felt this is where it belonged!” says Hill."

Oh good grief - The woman talks like some sort of religious zealot. Yeah, lady, in retrospect I guess the plane does belong there, to rot alongside the airworthy SPAD that the G took away from its rightful owner.

What a complete joke. That fact that someone out there wanted to rebuild it to airworthy status makes it all the more obscene.

I am just happy to that it is being saved. For those bashing Owen's museum, you may want to actually pay them a visit. They have an indoor facility for most of their collection and they take good care of what they have. As for that Spad, do we really want to talk about what REALLY happened?

Exactly! There's a lot more to that story.
