I was at Meacham Field in the Fort Worth area of Texas doing some flight training recently with Bill in his new Beech 18 and he suggested stopping by Ezell Aviation for a visit. How could I refuse? Here are a few photos of the good folks down there.

Outside of Westpac it's not too often that you can see two P-47's sitting next to each other. Very cool

The Slattery Brewster Corsair in more than capable hands. These guys are some of the best in the business and the nicest too. Some shop owners have egos bigger than the state of Texas but not here. The Ezell family and their crew are some of the nicest people in the industry who are always willing to help others and share their experiences.

The Slattery Corsair will use the original R2800-8W engine. How cool. This will be the second one with the original -8. Any others out there? Haven't most all of them been converted to CB's or other B series?

This one is being used for fitting

Several of the Ezell family at work. Nelson on the right and Chad on the left. I am not sure but I think that is Nelson's brother in the middle. Sorry if I am mistaken.

In the background is Nelson's Tempest aft fuselage as I recall

Thanks to the Ezell folks for letting Bill and myself tromp through their beautiful new hangar and shop. Well done guys!

P-47D "Balls Out" is owned by Rod Lewis, ex-Tillamook Air Museum.

Was that a polished aluminum Beech with red trim? If so, I might have seen you guys.

Thank you Taigh, it is great to see these photos from the Ezell shop! A photo that Ezell Aviation posted of that very same hangar, about two months ago, showed Rod Lewis' new Hellcat (ex-TFC), a pair of P-40 wings (RAF markings), and an F-86 in there: https://www.facebook.com/277369547232/p ... =3&theater

Wasn't us. We were in a white Beech with grey trim.

I got to see that Super 18 up close last weekend. Isn't she a beauty? Wow! Great looking and sparkling clean. Glad to have her staying with us at VFM.

Yes, Bill sold it to Bill Runyon. Its based at Meacham and I am sure will be well cared for. It was cool to see the A-26K and the CAF A-26 up close. Fifi was there too looking good and lots of other treasures.

Great pics Taigh! The pics tell a great story as well. I think this may be the first time in almost 2 decades that Joe Thibodeau hasn't had a warbird to fly. :) I think the last time that Crusader was down at Ezell's for any amount of time was when it was being rewired back about 15 years ago and that was when he bought the Sea Fury, which Nelson was caring for.

Judging by the (awesome) photos in this thread, viewtopic.php?f=3&t=56532, it would appear that "Crusader" is already back in Colorado so I don't think he was without a ride for too long!
