Hi All
I found these Strategic Air Command Badges (Decals) in the garage of a Retired B-52 mechanic rolled up in 2.75 inch rocket shipping tubes.
These are large decals that are very weathered and look a bit worse for ware.
They have peel back sticker paper on the back and a protective paper/film on the front.
Is there anyone out there that can advise me on how to get the face cover off without destroying the decal?
We tried peeling, but the paper come off in slivers. We tried a little water on one to dissolve the face (like model airplane decals) that didn't work either.

CAN THESE BE SAVED or should I put them out for recycling?

this is the first try at posting pictures. IF they don't show, I can PM them

Might try windex.
I have a large TAC badge and been looking for a SAC badge to go with it.

You might try to loosen the backing with peanut oil.

Jim, when you copy the Photobucket links, use the ones listed as "Direct" (not "Email & IM") and paste them between the [img] tags here; that should work.

Check with your local sign company and see if they have any Rapid Remover liquid. We use it to remove decal residue from old decal applications. It might be able to clean off the old transfer tape residue.

Good luck!

Very cool.

Are these the emblems that were affixed to the a/c?

Yes they are
the full color badge is about 3 ft tall and almost 30 " wide
the subdued versions are only 2 ft X 2 ft.

Hate to toss them!
Even if they can't be used on aircraft, they are great from display????

thanks

Yes, absolutely good for display. Would look kickass in anyone's man-cave.

I don't know what they're worth, but I suppose you'll be getting offers if you haven't already.

Open to Offers as they are, or more suggestions on how to clear the cover paper without destroying the decal.
All $$$$ will go direct to the restoration of our UC-61K
